Enterprise Rent-A-Car Advance Reservations for Labor Day Holiday Up 25 Percent

Neighborhood Rental Car Locations Are Launching Pads for Holiday Getaways

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - Aug 24, 2011) - Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America's largest rental car brand, reports today that advance reservations for the Labor Day holiday are up 25 percent over last year. The data comes from Enterprise's neighborhood locations, which are launching pads for weekend getaways and "near-cations."

"This is consistent with past year-over-year increases for Labor Day reservations, but it's noteworthy this year because of the recent concerns about the economy," said Steve Short, vice president of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. "People are sticking to their plans to enjoy their Labor Day getaways, especially when they can get there so economically."

Earlier today, AAA announced in its Labor Day Travel Forecast that road travel is expected to rise 0.5 percent over last year compared to an overall projected decrease of 2.4 percent in Labor Day holiday trips of 50 miles or more from home. The Enterprise reservations increase surpasses the AAA "car trip" projected increase by more than 40 times.

"The discrepancy indicates to us that more consumers this year want to save wear and tear on the car they own, or believe that a rental car will be more fuel efficient," said Short. "Renting a car can be a cost-saving strategy for consumers."
