Enterprise Rent-A-Car Extends Environmental Commitment With More Fuel-Efficient Pickup Trucks

Acclaimed Ford EcoBoost F-150 offers all the Power of a V8 in a turbo-charged V6 that's Easier on Gas

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 19, 2011) - Enterprise Rent-A-Car has announced the addition of the fuel-efficient 2011 Ford EcoBoost F-150 pickup trucks to its Canadian fleet. The vehicles are available for rent starting this month as gas prices hit record highs. The announcement underscores Enterprise's continuing efforts to embrace new technologies and offer the largest fuel-efficient fleet in the industry.

"As the world's largest owner and operator of passenger vehicles, we have a vested interest and a history of working with manufacturers to integrate new engine technologies into our fleet," said Lee Broughton, director of sustainability for Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates Enterprise Rent-A-Car along with the Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands. "We're committed to using our fleet and our network of more than 450 locations across Canada to promote more fuel-efficient technologies like the EcoBoost F-150 and provide an extended test drive for curious customers."

The EcoBoost F-150 pickups, widely praised in the automotive media, join Enterprise's growing line-up of fuel- efficient vehicles, already the largest in the world, that includes thousands of gas/electric hybrids. The new EcoBoost F-150s offer the performance of a V8 with the enhanced fuel efficiency of a V6. They also produce lower carbon-dioxide emissions.

"We are pleased to work with Enterprise to offer its customers the EcoBoost F-150, a vehicle that is really on the cutting edge of technology," says Darren Halabisky, Truck Marketing Plans Manager at Ford Motor Company of Canada. "Specially tuned and calibrated, its 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged engine boasts an impressive 365 horsepower and 420-lb-ft of torque. Still, it uses only 13 litres to go 100 kilometres in the city, and nine litres to go that distance on the highway—far better mileage than comparable V8s."

The Ford EcoBoost F-150 is an ideal option for renters looking for enhanced fuel economy paired with power and utility—whether it is to grab something up at the home-supply store or head out on a weekend camping trip.

"We are proud to be able to offer customers yet another way to reduce their carbon footprint as part of our overall commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship," said Broughton. "We're confident the Ford EcoBoost F-150s, which are also a lot of fun to drive, will be in very high demand."
