Enterprise Rent-A-Car Partners With Duke University to Bring Chevy Volt to Campus Car-Sharing Program

WeCar and Duke First to Introduce Volts Into Campus Car Sharing; Enterprise Provides Duke With All-Chevrolet Vehicles Offering Car-Sharing Members Efficient, Affordable, Sustainable Transportation Alternative

DURHAM, NC--(Marketwire - Sep 15, 2011) - Enterprise Rent-A-Car is providing 16 fuel-efficient Chevrolet vehicles, including the Chevy Volt extend-range electric vehicle, to Duke University students, faculty and staff through WeCar by Enterprise.

"It's another step Duke is taking to become carbon neutral," said Brian Williams, transportation and management coordinator for Duke. "We're a community that knows that programs like this save us money on the cost of transportation and keep our campus beautiful."

According to Williams, the new program gives Duke students and employees the chance to adapt to electric vehicle technology before most of the country.

"By leveraging the strength of our 55-year relationship with GM, we're thrilled that we are able to help the university meet the needs of their campus car-sharing program by bringing new vehicles, like the Volt and the Chevy Cruze into their program," said Ryan Johnson, assistant vice president, WeCar.

WeCar programs are supported by the extensive Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood network of more than 5,500 rental offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population. WeCar is a natural extension of the local car rental service Enterprise pioneered and continues to provide. The Enterprise location at 3616 Hillsborough Road in Durham is providing access to rentals for Duke employees and students.

"Enterprise has long-time relationships with manufacturers, working with them to bring the newest vehicles and latest technology to our consumers, because we can provide the broadest exposure possible through our vast network. Duke is no different. Duke car-sharing members are the first in this area to have the chance to try out the new vehicle technology, and we are very excited to provide this opportunity for Chevrolet to gain significant exposure to its new vehicles -- and Duke to experience them," said Johnson.

"Chevrolet is excited about its partnership with Enterprise and offering students and faculty at Duke the opportunity to try out and drive gas-free in the Volt and experience the new top selling Cruze," said Christi Landy from Chevrolet.

For those at Duke who enroll as members, WeCar offers around-the-clock access to hourly, daily and overnight rentals. The 16 WeCar vehicles will be parked in several on-campus locations, including West, Central and East campuses, and at the Health System.

Members reserve a vehicle online, then access it using a membership card and return the vehicle to the same location where it was picked up. Fuel, Basic physical vehicle damage and state required liability and protection are included in the standard rate plan.

Enterprise has created a Brand Ambassador internship program on campus to market the car-sharing service. Duke students, faculty and staff with a credit card and valid driver's license can sign up for the program at www.wecar.com/duke.
