EnterpriseDB Expands C-Suite With New Chief Financial Officer

SVP Paul Blondin to Lead Executive Finance Team, Support Rapid Business Growth

BEDFORD, MA--(Marketwired - Oct 20, 2015) - EnterpriseDB (EDB), the leading provider of enterprise-class Postgres products and database compatibility solutions, today announced that Paul Blondin has joined the company as senior vice president and chief financial officer, reporting to CEO Ed Boyajian. Blondin was the CFO of Cascade Communications, founded in 1990 and subsequently bought by Ascend Communications for $3.7 billion. As a seasoned financial executive, Blondin will be responsible for leading EDB's finance team and managing financial operations.

Blondin sees a great opportunity at EDB as well. Just this month, Gartner named EDB Leader in its 2015 Gartner Operational DBMS Magic Quadrant. In fact, EDB is the only relational database vendor in the Leaders Quadrant that delivers both an open source and an enterprise-enhanced, open source based database solution that can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud.

Postgres adoption continues to increase globally, with 55 percent of users -- up from 40 percent two years ago -- deploying it for mission-critical applications, according to a recent Postgres user survey. As the world's largest Postgres software and services provider, EDB is expanding as well, providing organizations with the guidance and solutions they need to successfully deploy, manage and expand their databases. The company has experienced significant demand for EDB Postgres, including its Postgres Plus Advanced Server database as well as professional services and training to help ensure organizational success. The addition of Blondin as a senior vice president and CFO will support EDB's growth and expanding customer base.

"Paul brings the right background in finance and executive leadership to help steer EDB toward our global business objectives amidst rising demand for Postgres," said Ed Boyajian, CEO of EnterpriseDB. "He adds a remarkable amount of depth and creativity to our executive team just as we're accelerating expansion in every area of the business."

Blondin brings more than 25 years of experience as a senior financial executive, CEO, corporate board member and investor to his role at EDB. Before joining the company, Blondin was a managing partner of KickStart Partners, LLC, a business advisory group to private equity investors and CEOs. In the early 2000s, he was the Founder, Executive Chairman of the Board and CEO of Pactolus Communication Software. Prior to this, Blondin held executive positions at various technology companies, including network security company Netect Ltd., Open Development Corporation and Cascade Communications Inc.

Blondin has served as a board member or advisor to more than 20 public and private companies. His current directorships include Revitas, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA and Bin1 ATE LLC of Northborough, MA.

"EDB is a game changer for the database industry and it struck the entrepreneur in me. The opportunity to work at an established market leader that's revolutionizing an industry doesn't come along every day," said Blondin. "I look forward to playing an active role in supporting EDB as the company grows in response to Postgres' increasing adoption worldwide."
