What: TheServerSide Java Symposium

When: Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:10 a.m.

Where: Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Nev.

EnterpriseDB vice president of products Karen Tegan Padir is delivering a keynote presentation at TheServerSide Java Symposium on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Padir's keynote will focus on predicting technology ubiquity and how technologies like Java, Java EE, PostgreSQL, Linux and MySQL gained worldwide adoption from developers.

Over the past 13 years, Padir has been at the center of the most widely adopted standards, including Java EE and Web Services. Additionally, she has also overseen some of the world's most popular open source projects. She was an executive at Red Hat, helped Sun Microsystems in the acquisition of MySQL, and led Sun out of the application server abyss via the GlassFish open source project. Currently, Karen is working at EnterpriseDB to further the adoption of PostgreSQL in the enterprise.

As a result of these experiences, Padir has developed a unique perspective on how technologies evolve. Based on technology adoption trends of the past, this keynote session will look at how the elements of standards based on open source software development can predict the next generation of ubiquitous technologies.

EnterpriseDB is a platinum sponsor of TheServerSide Java Symposium. According to the conference program, "TheServerSide Java Symposium 2011 is where architects, developers and managers need to be in order to gain the knowledge and Java-based skills required to excel in the mixed application environments of today and tomorrow."

In addition to Padir's keynote presentation, EnterpriseDB executive Tom Kincaid, Vice President of Training and Professional Services, is scheduled to present about the world's most advanced open source database -- PostgreSQL. Kincaid will talk about why and how PostgreSQL is the database of choice for the enterprise java developer.
