WHO: Bruce Momjian, Senior Database Architect, EnterpriseDB
        Pavan Deolasee, Lead Engineer, EnterpriseDB

WHAT: Bruce Momjian will highlight the ways in which the PostgreSQL
community will meet software development and other challenges
differently in the future. Future changes include moving beyond

        improvements for single-session workloads.

Pavan Deolasee will discuss the technical architecture of HOT
(Heap-Only-Tuples), a key feature of PostgreSQL 8.3. HOT
significantly increases the database's performance over long
periods of time in update-intensive OLTP applications. Deolasee
will discuss the internal architecture of HOT and the interesting
technical challenges faced during HOT's development. He will also
