Entertainment Capital Corporation Portfolio Company FilmMates Entertainment Secures Worldwide Distribution for Award-Winning Comedy, "My Suicidal Sweetheart"

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 22, 2006 -- Entertainment Capital Corporation (ECC), whose focus is to invest in companies engaged in various aspects of the entertainment industry, today announced that portfolio investment company FilmMates Entertainment, Inc., a Los Angeles-based film acquisition, finance, production and distribution company, has acquired worldwide theatrical, television and home video/DVD distribution rights to "My Suicidal Sweetheart" (, an award-winning dark romantic comedy from director Michael Parness.

The rights to distribute "My Suicidal Sweetheart" were secured during FilmMates Entertainment's appearance at the 47th annual Marché du Film, which took place from May 17-27 at the Cannes Film Festival (Festival International du Film de Cannes) in Cannes, France. The deal was brokered by FilmMates Entertainment senior vice president of development Jay Malla Maldonado, B. D. Fox & Friends vice president Kristine Kreska, and Full Glass Films executive producer Elana Pianko.

"My Suicidal Sweetheart," from G. Mac Brown, the Executive Producer of "You've Got Mail" and "The Interpreter," features an original soundtrack by Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies) and stars David Krumholtz ("Serenity," "Ray"), Natasha Lyonne ("Blade Trinity"), Lorraine Bracco ("The Sopranos"), Tim Blake Nelson ("Meet the Fockers"), David Paymer ("In Good Company"), and Rosanna Arquette ("Diary of a Sex Addict").

The film has won numerous awards, including Best Film, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at the Trenton Film Festival; Best Feature Film at the Magnolia Film Festival; Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the Sacramento Film Festival; Best Actor and Best Score at the California Independent Film Festival; and Grand Jury Prize: Best Picture at the Rhode Island Film Festival.
