TORONTO, ONTARIO and LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2011) - Entertainment One (eOne) (LSE:ETO), one of the world's premiere independent entertainment distributors, today announced the renewal of its Canadian and UK output agreements with leading independent film studio Summit Entertainment (Summit). Under the terms of these multiyear agreements, eOne will continue to distribute Summit films in all media across Canada and the UK.

Since its formation in 2007, Summit has produced and distributed many notable films including The Twilight Saga series based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling novels; the Academy Award® winning film The Hurt Locker; Alex Proyas' Knowing starring Nicolas Cage; Red, an action-comedy flick starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman; the recently-released action-thriller Source Code starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, and Vera Farmiga; as well as the upcoming The Beaver, the much-anticipated film directed by Jodie Foster.

eOne expects to release up to eight Summit films a year in Canada and the UK, including the eagerly-awaited fourth and fifth instalments of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

"We are thrilled to extend our strong relationship with Summit Entertainment. The highly-successful partnership has fostered tremendous growth in both our businesses over the past three years," said Darren Throop, President & CEO, Entertainment One.

"The strong line-up of films from Summit was an important addition to our slates in 2010, where we finished as the #1 independent distributor in the UK and the #2 in Canada," said Patrice Theroux, President, Filmed Entertainment. "This will serve a great foundation as we continue to grow our business in the UK and Canada."

"The team at eOne has been a great partner for the studio these past several years," said Summit Co-Chairmen Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman. "The executive team continues to prove their ability in bringing our films to the largest audiences possible in these two key markets and it is more than fitting for us to have them continue to do so."
