Enticing New Restaurant Brings "Taste of Greece" to Colorado Springs

My Big Fat Greek Restaurant to Be Conveniently Located at 7605 N. Academy Blvd.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--(Marketwire - Jul 15, 2011) - My Big Fat Greek Restaurant ( will open at 7605 N. Academy Blvd. next month and hire approximately 80 full time and part time employees.

Previously a Macaroni Grill, this 7,800 square foot facility will now be serving some of the best Greek food available anywhere. In fact, they have been named best Greek restaurant in AZ seven years running... OPA!

My Big Fat Greek Restaurant will be open for lunch, happy hour and dinner from 11am-10pm Sunday through Thursday and 11am-midnight Fridays and Saturdays. They will also be providing catering for luncheons, meetings, and weddings up to 5,000. The high energy dining experience provides a mixture of new age and modern Greek music with lots of Greek dancing, fire blowing and plate breaking (an old Greek tradition).

The "experience of Greece" begins the moment you enter their inviting surroundings of warm, colorful murals portraying the Parthenon and Greek gods and slate tile floors and dramatic lighting that complement the exhibition kitchen and open dining room. The happy hour will start at 3pm and be an instrumental part of the restaurant, with occasional live entertainment.

The menu highlights Mediterranean dishes as well as wood fired pizzas and a delightful kids menu. Diners can savor such dishes as the lamb chops served with lemon roasted potatoes or a gyro dinner with cucumber yogurt sauce (tzatziki) and fresh pita. Appetizers include Flaming Saganaki flambéed table side or a Spanakopita, a spinach pie stuffed with spinach, feta and herbs. Authentic Greek salad and Avgolemeno soup are other favorites. Innovative cocktails and an array of popular wine selections from Greece, as well as other notable regions, will be served. Desserts such as Baklava Cheesecake and Loukamades (a honey glazed puff pastry) are all made in house daily.
