Entourage Metals Updates Exploration Results, Hemlo Greenstone Belt

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 1, 2012) - Entourage Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:EMT) is pleased to report that core drilling shows encouraging results at both the Rous Lake and Black Raven Property. At Black Raven the size and continuity of mineralization in the target structure is increasing. The 2012 exploration program is part of an ongoing effort to identify satellite deposits to Barrick's Hemlo Mine within this underexplored greenstone belt.

Rous Lake

Drill holes RL12-02 and RL12-03 targeted coincident soil-gas hydrocarbon (SGH) and gravity anomalies on the Rous Lake property, where two mineralized trends merge; the Northern Arm Trend and the Hemlo-Heron Bay Shear Zone (Main Mineralized Trend). The results are as follows:

  • Drill hole RL12-02 was drilled to a depth of 665.3 meters and encountered gold mineralization in a silicified zone containing 1.0 m of 2.51 gpt Au (653.0 m to 654 m) in intermediate volcanics.
  • RL12-03 was drilled to a depth of 673.3 meters and encountered a structurally complex zone of numerous stockwork quartz veining over a 44.1 meter interval (307.8 to 351.9 m) with minor sulfides. Its thickness suggests a significant dilational zone with abundant veining that has the potential for gold rich mineralization along strike or down-dip of this intercept.

The applicability of the SGH method is useful in deeply covered terrains where conventional soil geochemistry is ineffectual. At Rous Lake, over 200 meters of overburden including raised beach sand covers most of the property. This geochemical method has been shown to accurately identify known mineralization at depth through orientation surveys and has contributed to recent gold discoveries in the Canadian Shield and elsewhere. The SGH survey is a deep penetrating geochemical method that involves the analysis of various hydrocarbons using a forensic approach for identification.

Gravity breaks are associated with and correlated well with gold deposits in the Abitibi Belt (OFR 6189, Discover Abitibi). The association of SGH anomalies near a gravity break indicates an attractive exploration target.

The gravity results confirmed both contrasting rock types and structural complexity associated with this target. In RL12-03, the structural zone encountered was anomalous in gold and contained values as high as 1.05 m of 0.913 g/t Au.

Black Raven

Assays results have been received from the final two drill holes from the winter drilling program.

BR12-19 targeted the high-grade Super G vein encountering the structure between 142.75 to 143.18 meters (vertical depth of 110 meters) and graded 0.43 m of 3.09 g/t Au. In addition, a developing vein was seen in the hangingwall to the Super G vein and graded 0.55 m of 4.26 g/t Au (46.45 m to 47.0 m). These intercepts suggests the potential of several subparallel veins at depth, which are also documented in previously released holes BR12-16 (0.65 m of 4.62 g/t) and BR12-18 (0.38 m of 14.1 g/t).

The thickness of the vein is increasing with depth (below 110 m vertical) as exhibited by BR11-04 intercept (2.38 meters of 44.57 g/t Au). This relatively shallow drilling was crucial to help define the plunge of the main mineralization in the Super G Vein prior to drilling at depth.

Drillhole BR12-08 was designed to test the northern margin of the Beggs Lake Stock testing elevated gold values in soil (30 to 50 ppb Au). At the margin of the stock, anomalous gold values and hydrothermal alteration were identified over 76.0 meters, including a high of 0.42 g/t Au over 2 meters (274 to 276 m). This 76.0 meter zone is characterized by an increase of hematite alteration with minor quartz veining. The anomalous gold suggests that this intrusion is gold bearing, and is reminiscent of the hematitic alteration seen at Hemlo Mines in the footwall rocks to the main orebodies. Additional targets have been identified along this contact for future drilling.

Entourage's new discovery at Black Raven confirms the potential of other styles of gold mineralization, overlooked during the exploration rush after the initial discovery of Hemlo. Intercepts from the Phase I drill program may be the highest grade found outside of the Hemlo Mines, in the Hemlo Greenstone Belt since 1981 (2.38 meters of 44.57 g/t Au).

A comprehensive quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program is in place to monitor precision and accuracy of the assay results. All core samples are submitted with certified reference materials (standards, blanks and duplicates). Internal standards and blank samples were inserted after every sample that contained visible gold for quality control purposes. Assay samples are taken from BQTW/NQ/HQ core, sawed in half along the core axis with one-half sent to AGAT Laboratories in Mississauga, Ontario and the other half retained by Entourage for future reference. AGAT laboratories are ISO 9001 accredited.
