Entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis Partners With SJC Custom Drums Based in Worcester County, Massachusetts

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL--(Marketwired - May 13, 2015) - Marcus Lemonis, serial entrepreneur and host of CNBC's The Profit, has partnered with SJC Custom Drums, a company founded by Mike and Scott Ciprari that has been producing drum kits for top billboard musical performers, such as Green Day, Lady Gaga and Imagine Dragons, across the country since 2000. SJC Custom Drums is widely recognized among drummers, from novice to professional touring artists, and prides itself on craftsmanship, innovation, customer service and passion for its product.

"Partnering with SJC and becoming involved in this vibrant and creative drum business is an exciting opportunity. This company intrigues me, because their finely crafted product speaks for itself, however their process and the relationship among their people was failing, hindering the business," said Lemonis. "This is a great example of why it's the combination of people, process and product that are essential to a successful business model."

The first episode of season three of The Profit aired Tuesday night at 10pm ET/PT on CNBC, and featured Lemonis stepping in to assist SJC Custom Drums, based just outside of Boston, to turn around their failing business and repair the damaged relationship among employees. SJC was in need of help in order to streamline their manufacturing process to meet demand for their quality product, and were struggling to recover from years of poor business management. With Lemonis' advice and financial support, SJC was able to restructure their management team and purchase new equipment to improve their manufacturing process. This assistance allowed them to efficiently organize the facility, maintain an inventory of materials in-stock and more efficiently produce their drum kits. The new process ultimately resulted in an increased production from roughly 40 kits a month to over 100, which shortened the customer's lead time from an initial order to receipt of the product.

"As a result of Marcus' direction, we've implemented a new Ten -Step Model production process as the baseline for creating a drum kit. This allows for increased productivity and efficiency resulting in a quicker manufacturing turnaround time for customers," remarked Mike Ciprari, Co-Founder and Creative Director of SJC Custom Drums. "We are now able to produce new drums within days and offer a product mix of three models: beginner, intermediate and custom kits for professionals. Our new portfolio features different price levels and styles for a wide array of musicians."

In the episode, SJC Custom Drums also ventured into a licensing development with the School of Rock to supply entry level drum kits for music education. The company also announced that it would offer a portion of the proceeds from sales toward scholarships allowing more children to participate in the music program.

CNBC's The Profit airs Tuesday nights at 10pm ET/PT. The rebroadcast of the SJC Custom Drums episode will air throughout the week. Check local listings for more information.
