Entrepreneur Torrey Tayenaka Helps Launch the Kite(TM) Patch

Kite Patch Marks Significant Advance in the Global Fight Against Mosquito-Borne Diseases

COSTA MESA, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 27, 2013) - Orange County entrepreneur Torrey Tayenaka has helped launch yet another cutting-edge venture aimed at making a positive difference in the world. The release of the Kite™ Patch marks a significant advance in the global fight against mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, West Nile Virus and Dengue Fever, and the company reached its $75,000 funding goal in just 4.5 days on the popular crowd-funding site Indiegogo.

Tayenaka is an innovative force on the Southern California entrepreneurship scene, funneling his energies toward the non-profit and start-up ventures that inspire him -- particularly those that allow him to harness the newest trends and technologies to create a better world.

As the creative lead of the consumer product, Kite™ Patch, Tayenaka spearheaded the marketing and design of the creative campaign, which includes branding, product design, videos and a company website.

Kite™ Patch is designed to be simple, non-toxic and powerful, made for children and adults around the world in a range of climates and conditions. Together with Grey Frandsen and Dr. Michelle Brown, Tayenaka worked with ieCrowd and Olfactor Laboratories, Inc., incorporating research conducted by Professor Anandasankar Ray and his team at the University of California, Riverside, to develop Kite™ Patch.

The product's launch on Indiegogo inspired a flurry of activity on the site, doubling its $75K funding goal to earn $150,000 in just 8 days. It was voted the number-one most popular venture on the website, where it appeared on the front page and was featured as a top campaign by the site's editors.

But this is far from Tayenaka's first entrepreneurial success. He launched his first business when he was just 15 years old, a full-service video marketing agency, now called Sparkhouse (www.thesparkhouse.com). Today, he serves as the president of OC's leading advertising and marketing networking group for young professionals called AD2OC (www.ad2oc.org); co-founder of a sustainable organic clothing line called Original California (www.originalca.com); CEO of a mobile health-food application called Preeka; creator and founder of a weekend marketing experience called Forge54 (www.forge54.com) that spotlights future innovators and brings ad agencies together to support non-profit organizations in a collaborative, weekend-long marketing experience; and executive director of the OC Film Festival (www.ocff.org), a showcase for Orange County high school students' film projects.
