Environmental Industry Associations Honors Mickey Flood, President and CEO, IESI, With Lifetime Achievement Award

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - On Tuesday, May 6, 2008, Mickey Flood, President and CEO of IESI Corp. ("IESI") in Fort Worth, Texas, will be inducted into the Environmental Industry Association's Hall of Fame. EIA is the non-profit trade association that represents for-profit companies in the waste service and equipment industry throughout North America. The EIA Hall of Fame is for industry leaders who over the course of more than 20 years have made significant contributions to both the industry and their community.

Mickey Flood began his career in the solid waste industry at the age of 15, working holidays and summers during his high school and college years for a privately owned local waste hauler. After graduating from the University of Miami in 1968 with a degree in education, Flood was a teacher for a few years. However, he soon returned to the business he loved, working in the private waste sector. In 1976 he joined publicly-owned SCA Services ("SCA"), becoming a Region Vice President.

In 1984, when SCA was acquired by Waste Management, Inc. ("WMI"), Flood became the President of GSX Corporation North America ("GSX"). In 1986, GSX was acquired by Laidlaw Waste Systems Inc. ("Laidlaw"), at which time Flood became President of Laidlaw's U.S. operations. In 1989, Flood joined WMI as a Region Vice President and in 1992 he became one of the company's four group presidents in charge of its solid waste business in North America.

In 1995, Flood founded IESI. Today, having completed more than 200 acquisitions, IESI serves residential, commercial and industrial roll-off customers in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas. Acquired by BFI Canada Income Fund (TSX:BFC.UN) in 2005, IESI is now a part of the sixth largest waste services provider in North America.

Flood said, "My greatest accomplishment was putting the right people together to build IESI. We had two trucks when we started and grew organically and through acquisition to become one of the largest companies in our industry."

Flood served as EIA's Board of Trustees Chair from 2003 to 2006 and currently serves as the Flow Control Task Force Chair and a representative on the National Solid Wastes Management Association's (NSWMA) Board of Governors. NSWMA is a subgroup of EIA representing service companies. Flood continues to play an active role with NSWMA's Texas and New York City Chapters. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Detachable Container Association.

"This is the only industry where you could be driving a garbage truck in the morning and eating dinner with a governor in the evening," Flood said.

"Mickey has truly earned his place in the EIA Hall of Fame," said Bruce Parker, EIA's President and CEO. "He is an icon. His ability to attract talented people to this industry with his vision of success is unprecedented."

The awards ceremony will take place in Chicago, Illinois, as part of the waste industry's national trade show, WasteExpo 2008.
