Environmental Monitoring and Technologies, Inc. (EMT) Analyzes Electronics for Joint Industry Guide (JIG) Annex A and Annex B Parameters

MORTON GROVE, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 31, 2007 -- EMT continues to expand its laboratory testing services by recently adding JIG Annex A and Annex B parameters to its portfolio of analytical capabilities, which includes EU RoHS, WEEE, ELV, California Prop. 65 and others. EMT is also preparing for global environmental directives such as China RoHS and California AB 48 and continues to investigate new parameters.

The JIG-101 "Material Composition Declaration for Electronic Products" document was drafted by member companies of EICTA (Europe), JGPSSI (Japan), EIA (USA) and JEDEC (USA) in response to the challenges that the entire global Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) industry faces from diverse material composition requests. The EEE industry tracks and discloses specific information about the material composition of its products due to legal and market requirements. Due to the diversity of information requests and formats, the JIG-101 material composition declaration guide was developed.

EMT's Product Ecology Manager Kris Erickson believes that, "The JIG-101 parameters are the next step in the development of a global response that aims to protect human health and the environment by restricting the use of certain hazardous substances." Ms. Erickson also stated, "Material composition declaration is now normal business practice and EMT is at the forefront of providing efficient, accurate testing of materials for the substances of concern."

EMT is an independent testing laboratory established in Illinois in 1984 that is accredited by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard. EMT has more than seven years' experience analyzing complex electronic and electrical matrices for material content.
