ENVIRON's B2BWEEE-Scheme Is First Producer Compliance Scheme to Gain Environment Agency Approval

LONDON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 25, 2007 -- Ewire -- ENVIRON is pleased to announce the approval of the first UK Producer Compliance Scheme (PCS) under the new WEEE Regulations. The Environment Agency confirmed on 25th January that ENVIRON'S B2BWEEE-Scheme has fully met all PCS requirements in the UK WEEE Regulations.

The UK WEEE Regulations require manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment to join an approved PCS by the 15th March 2007. ENVIRON's B2BWEEE-Scheme is now open for member registration, which will give business-to-business producers the opportunity to join well before the deadline.

"We are delighted that the Environment Agency has approved our application so quickly and that we are the first PCS to be able to provide full WEEE compliance services to our members," said Dr Aidan Turnbull, Head of WEEE, RoHS and Eco-Design at ENVIRON.

The Scheme offers major benefits to its members in terms of service and flexibility. For Members who do not have existing WEEE collection and recycling arrangements, Scheme can install a web-based WEEE system on the company's website. Members who already have collection and recycling arrangements can continue to use these, subject to a short audit of these arrangements by ENVIRON.
