EPCOR USA's Luke 303 Facility Honored as Top "Economic Engine"

PHOENIX, ARIZONA--(Marketwired - Nov. 14, 2016) - EPCOR USA was honored at WESTMARC's annual Best of the West Awards at the University of Phoenix stadium on November 10, 2016. The Luke 303 Regional Water Reclamation Facility and district received WESTMARC's prestigious Economic Engine award.

"The West Valley is where I live, work and raise my children, and I will always be a West Valley enthusiast. We must have growth done correctly," said Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Clint Hickman. "With growth comes infrastructure needs. I was pleased Maricopa County was able to be part of EPCOR's project to grow smarter for our future generations."

"By developing Luke 303, we're opening an entire area of growth for the West Valley," EPCOR Vice President of Operations Troy Day said. "We're proud to partner with Maricopa County and the City of Glendale in their vision for the future and we're excited to be a part of what's next in this important corridor."

WESTMARC, the Western Maricopa Coalition, is a public-private partnership that includes 15 communities, business leaders and educators in the West Valley.

The annual Best of the West awards, which have been given out every year since 1993, honor outstanding contributions to the West Valley. Honorees are recognized for helping the lifestyle, economic development and image of the West Valley.

Luke 303 was recognized for its impact in helping the West Valley continue to grow. The Luke 303 wastewater district, including the new $95 million Luke 303 Regional Water Reclamation Facility, will serve 7,000 acres of new homes and businesses, and will recharge and reuse up to 8 million gallons of treated effluent daily. The project broke ground in December 2015 and the first phase in the multi-phase project came online in June 2016.

Teams from across EPCOR worked with Maricopa County, and with local and state officials, local landowners, and officials from Luke Air Force Base to take the idea of the district and make it a reality.

Today, EPCOR USA is among the largest private water utilities in the Southwest, providing water and wastewater services to more than 350,000 customers across 31 communities and nine counties.
