Epic Data Chosen by a Leading US Defense Contractor to Deliver Real Time, Shop Floor Data Collection Systems

Epic Data's MXE Data Collection Middleware and Multipurpose Terminals (MPT) Simultaneously Improves Performance for Dozens of Manufacturing Applications

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 27, 2008) - Epic Data International Inc. (TSX VENTURE:EKD), a provider of data collection, material management and manufacturing visibility solutions, today announced it is in final negotiations with a leading US Defense contractor for the award of a contract to deliver a complete data collection solution for its shop floor and manufacturing operations. The solution is valued at CDN $4.8 million and includes an additional CDN $2.1 million multi-year support contract.

Epic Data will deploy its MXE middleware product and MPT line of data collection devices over the next several months, and the support program will be in effect for several years following final delivery of the system. The solution will integrate with the Customer's suite of enterprise manufacturing systems and will deliver significant efficiencies in usability, performance and maintenance.

"This is a strong endorsement for our products, corporate value propositions and integration service capabilities," said James Dodds, CEO, Epic Data. "Our team has worked extremely hard to ensure we build and deliver solutions that exceed the requirements of our Customer's rugged yet highly sophisticated enterprise environments," added Dodds.

The complete data collection solution under negotiation includes Epic Data's MXE Data Collection Middleware software. MXE is a data collection and data management platform which enhances a manufacturer's ability to manage and synchronize people, processes, and products throughout the production cycle. MXE applications utilize a service oriented architecture (SOA), allowing it to be fully integrated with the ERP, MES and other manufacturing applications. The customer selected MXE because it provides critical data management and reliable data transport between its enterprise systems and its shop floor users.

MXE applications have been developed for multiple customers where near real time shop floor data collection and data visibility is necessary to allow timely and efficient manufacturing decisions to be made. Common Client applications include time and labor capture and management, job and cost allocation, labor accounting, quality inspection management and hazardous waste tracking, among many others.

The solution also includes Multipurpose Terminals from Epic Data. The MPT Workstation is an advanced rugged data terminal for shop floor control and manufacturing management applications. The MPT series of products are deployed to capture and present text and graphical information or work instructions to users and to capture critical data on the shop and manufacturing floor in real-time. Epic Data shop floor devices have been deployed for more than 30 years, have been purchased by thousands of manufacturing organizations around the world and are respected for their ruggedness, application flexibility and reliability.

The Company separately announced that financial results for the first quarter ended December 31, 2007 will be released at 2pm PST on February 27, 2008 to coincide with the Company's AGM to be held at Epic Data's head office, 6300 River Road, Richmond, BC Canada at 2pm PST.
