Epicor is the Market Share Leader for POS Software in a Survey Conducted by Independent Retail Management Consulting Firm Boston Retail Partners

16th Annual POS\Customer Engagement Benchmarking Survey also reveals Retailers' Top Priorities are Payment Security, Unified Commerce and Real-Time Retail

NEW YORK CITY, NY--(Marketwired - January 13, 2015) - NRF 2015 - Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for retail, manufacturing, distribution, and services organizations, announced today it has been named the leading vendor of point of sale (POS) software, by independent retail management consulting firm Boston Retail Partners (BRP) in its latest POS/Customer Engagement Benchmarking Survey, released Jan. 12 at NRF 2015.

The ranking, now in its 16th year, is based on BRP's annual survey of more than 500 North American retailers during November and December 2014. Software is a critical component to enhancing customer experience, so it is vital that retailers choose and use the right software. When asked what point of sale (POS) software they utilize, Epicor was the top choice among the respondents.

The survey explores the current state of the industry and how technology is shaping retail capabilities, highlighting the priorities, processes, tools and strategies of today's retailers. Survey respondents were queried on key initiatives including customer experience and personalization, mobile POS, virtual POS, payment security, order management and unified commerce.

Improving payment security, developing a unified commerce platform, and enabling real-time retail were all top priorities for 2015 cited by survey respondents -- which aligns with the new slate of omni-channel retail solutions Epicor is showcasing at NRF 2015.

BRP noted that, "For the first time in 16 years, more than 63% of the retail respondents in the BRP 2015 POS/Customer Engagement Benchmarking Survey indicated that payment security is among their top three priorities for 2015." Furthermore, an integral enabler of unified commerce is a single, centralized commerce platform for all channels, and "more than half of the retailers responding to the survey indicated they will have a single commerce platform implemented within the next 4 years."

"The results of BRP's annual study, which names us as the clear market share leader, align with what we are seeing in the market and our vision to deliver extended omni-channel solutions to midsize and large retail chains," said Noel Goggin, executive vice president and general manager, Epicor Retail. "Our recent strategic acquisitions strengthen our end-to-end omni-channel capability with a converged commerce platform to provide a single view of all products, orders, and customers, advanced analytics delivering actionable insights across the complete retail value chain, available via the cloud."

Survey Methodology
The primary focus of BRP's survey is the specialty retail segment with the largest percentage of the respondents being within the specialty soft goods and specialty hard goods categories. The remainder fell into various other categories such as general merchandise and grocery, food and beverage. Of the retailers surveyed, the breakdown in size based on gross annual revenue included a broad selection of Tier 1, 2 and 3 retailers; in general the retailers that responded to the survey this year were larger retailers with having more than $1B in sales.
