Episodic Web Series "Rotor DR1" Thrives From Community Feedback

"Rotor DR1" Makes Audience Part of the Creative Process

NORTH CANTON, OH--(Marketwired - October 09, 2014) - StoneKap, LLC has just released the first episode of Rotor DR1, the community collaborated episodic series where the audience helps make decisions and influence the story. Since posting a concept trailer on YouTube in September, StoneKap has been busy collecting feedback from the global virtual community and using it to shape Episode 1.

"We are thrilled with the global community's response to the trailer and their enthusiasm in making decisions for Episode 1," said Chad Kapper, Director and Executive Producer for Rotor DR1. "There is so much creativity in our virtual community, and we've been hard at work incorporating their input into the first episode."

The Rotor DR1 website and Facebook page are the hubs for the community collaboration aspect of the project. StoneKap's Rotor DR1 team poses questions about characters, technology, wardrobe, props and story elements, then uses common themes in the global community's responses to make decisions.

So far, the virtual community has determined what kind of watch the main character wears, the name of the drones' futuristic power supply and what it looks like, and which music to use. The global community has even influenced casting: StoneKap posted a screen test featuring two actresses and let the community decide who would be the female lead.

The audience participation in Rotor DR1 goes beyond just answering questions: StoneKap posted a call for global auditions to be used in the first episode.

"Rotor DR1 takes place after a viral pandemic kills much of the world's population, so we asked our virtual community to submit home videos of themselves freaking out during the outbreak," Kapper said. "We received some great submissions from all over the world, and used them in the newscast sequence of Episode 1."

Episode 1 is already getting rave responses from the community, especially on the Facebook page, which has received over 1700 likes in just a few weeks. While thrilled with the positive response, Kapper is already looking ahead to future episodes.

"The feedback and input from our global community has been incredible, and we hope to keep that momentum as we move forward," continued Kapper. "We can't wait to see how the virtual community will shape the remaining episodes!"
