EPM Mining Announces the Granting of Minor Source Air Permit for Its Sevier Playa Project

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 20, 2014) - EPM Mining Ventures Inc. ("EPM" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:EPK) (OTCQX:EPKMF) is pleased to announce that the Utah Division of Air Quality ("UDAQ") has approved a Minor Source Air Permit application for its Sevier Lake Playa Sulphate of Potash ("SOP") Project located in southwestern Utah (the "Project").

"The decision by UDAQ to grant the Minor Source Permit is very gratifying and another important step forward in the permitting process," said Lance D'Ambrosio, Chief Executive Officer of EPM. "Once we have our final permits, this will allow us to perform on-playa earthwork and civil engineering. Additionally, we continue monitoring for our Major Source Permit, which is required for construction of our processing facility, and look forward to receiving that at the appropriate time."

In cooperation with UDAQ, EPM has been pursuing a "dual permit approach" to air quality management. The Minor Source Permit application was submitted to UDAQ in October 2013 and, in July 2013, EPM began on-site monitoring for the Prevention of Significant Deterioration or the Major Source Permit. The Minor Source Permit will allow civil construction on the playa while the Major Source Permit will allow construction and operation of the processing plant once other necessary permits have been received.
