eProject Introduces On-Demand Resource Management and Capacity Planning

Breaks New Ground With Web-Based Visibility, Workflow-Driven Team/Role-Based Modeling, Resource Assignment, Utilization Feedback, 'What If' Models and More

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 18, 2006 -- eProject, the On-Demand leader of collaborative Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) software, today broke new ground with its PPM6 Resource Management and Capacity Planning, the industry's first web-based resource management and capacity planning tools that offer real-time visibility, workflow-driven team and role-based modeling, dynamic role and team scheduling, resource assignment, utilization feedback, 'What if' modeling, comprehensive analysis, standardized reports and much more.

PPM6 Resource Management and Capacity Planning are intuitive and straightforward tools for business users that enable better and more practical allocation of capacity and resource planning. Benefits include the ability to determine project success factors, types and "mix" of resources needed and increased project management maturity through 'project category types' and 'project work types.'

Moreover, using this intelligence, executive-level managers can not only drive project forecasting and trending, but financial and revenue forecasting. For example, new project requests can be objectively modeled against current projects, capacity and projected costs/return.

"Competing resource management and capacity modeling features on the market today focus on taking task schedules and managing the resources within those tasks. Instead, PPM6 Resource and Capacity Planning addresses the corporate need to plot and estimate workflow and resources throughout, and as projects and priorities evolve, dynamically add and subtract new roles such as team and resource managers," said Christian Smith, eProject vice president of sales and marketing.

In a typical user scenario, within the Team Manager View, resource managers have visibility into their entire resource pool. They can easily view all resource requests, match skills and deploy appropriate resources. Unlike other rigid solutions, PPM6 makes it easy for resource managers to assign -- and reassign -- resources as priorities shift and they balance supply and demand.

PPM6 Capacity Planner provides a powerful, visual representation of the opportunities within -- and limits of -- the workforce. It offers a web-based, agile and interactive user portal that provides real-time, up-to-the-minute visibility into the entire corporate resource pool.

For example, managers can flexibly evaluate resource capacity based on Hours or FTEs (Full-Time Employees). Additionally, real-time "What-If" Modeling offers the ability to compare aggregate project requests against overall capacity. Data can easily be printed as a PDF or exported to Excel to objectively and strategically optimize the project mix.

PPM6 Project Resource Utilization View displays team member allocations, as well as scheduled and actual time spent. You can view allocations not only by user, but also by project for a comprehensive view.

Additionally, PPM6 Resource Management and Capacity Planner will automate:

-- Role Scheduling - Map skill set requirements at the project or summary
task level. Project your role availability across future projects.

-- Resource Assignment - This occurs at the task level, after the project
is funded and approved. Assign names against the defined role (skill)
requirements based on planned hours by resource and task duration.

-- Resource Utilization - This is measured at the task or project level
and illustrates how time is tracked, measured and logged against all
activities. It provides a mechanism for self-corrective action the next
    time a project is planned.

-- Time Logging - Analyzing actual hours provides essential feedback for
    creating a good planning structure.

-- Resource Tracks - This concept is borrowed from manufacturers like
auto makers who divide their work into lines. Likewise, you can divide
projects into types and then align specific skill sets to the project
    types.

-- Summary Task Level Planning - Examine top level tasks to see how time
is spent in each project phase on average across many projects.

-- Skill Pools with Competency Levels - By rating employees in terms of
competency, you can put your star resources on critical projects, while
beginners can go on projects that help them learn.
