eQuest Releases Employment Index Results for August, 2011

UK Continues Relatively Flat Through Summer Months

LONDON--(Marketwire - Sep 29, 2011) - eQuest today announced its employment findings for August, 2011 as published in its Employment Index.

The effect of the summer months and lack of significant numbers of new positions was the key driver for the United Kingdom Employment Index as it moved from 98.56 in July to 98.49.

While growth has remained consistent across most industries in the UK, the results by regional market continued to vary greatly. London continues to make the greatest gains in both posting and applicant traffic as the summer moves forward. Eden, East Devon and Ryedale again posted the highest level of employee demand, while Nottingham, Kingston upon Hull and Liverpool remained at the bottom of the regional list for employment demand.

"While the summer months are traditionally limited by the lack of new positions the trend in the Index seems to currently be driven by overall cautious hiring patterns," said Sean Luitjens, SVP of Metrics & Consulting for eQuest. "Even with many companies growing the profit line, the current economic situation is causing organizations taking a critical look at every open position. For this reason we expect the Index to continue creeping slowly upward over the next quarter."
