ERA's MSS Selected to Provide World's First Multilateration Parallel Runway Monitoring Solution at Beijing

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 10, 2007 -- The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) signed two agreements to deploy ERA's MSS wide area multilateration technology to provide parallel runway monitoring as well as surface management for Beijing International Airport (PEK).

The selection of ERA is believed to be the first time that wide area multilateration technology will be used for a parallel runway monitoring system. Previously, only specially designed electronically scanned radar has been deemed acceptable for use in guiding aircraft on approach to parallel runways.

Both the surface surveillance solution and the parallel runway monitoring are provided by a network of ERA's MSS ground stations. The surface multilateration sensors encompass all maneuvering areas with the ability to cover a future undeveloped fourth runway.

"The CAAC's selection of MSS demonstrates the confidence placed in ERA technologies by the world's leading ANSPs," said Dave Ellison, Rannoch's President and CEO. "Our technology simply works better than conventional radar, at a fraction of the cost."

ERA's multilateration provides higher accuracy, greater update rate, better coverage and improved reliability when compared to conventional radar, and will do so at a much lower initial cost and with lower annual maintenance costs.

Beijing International Airport has experienced a period of unprecedented growth. In 2005, Beijing International Airport was the world leader in passenger growth, with a staggering 17.5% upswing in passenger traffic. Beijing is preparing for these numbers to rise even further as it hosts the 2008 Summer Olympics. ERA's technologies will allow the airport to safely and cost-effectively accommodate the massive capacity increases predicted for the next several years.

With its acquisition of ERA a.s. in October, Rannoch is now the global leader in multilateration and ADS-B technologies for air traffic control, air defense, homeland security and airport operations markets.
