ERF Wireless Signs Contracts With Four Texas Independent School Districts to Construct Wireless Broadband Networks

Networks Utilize 2.5GHz Education Broadband Service Licenses

LEAGUE CITY, TX--(Marketwire - Apr 15, 2011) - ERF Wireless (OTCBB: ERFW), a leading provider of enterprise-class wireless broadband products and services, announced today that the company has entered into four separate contractual agreements with four Texas Independent School Districts to design, engineer and construct wireless broadband networks utilizing the respective districts' 2.5GHz Education Broadband Service (EBS) licenses. Three of the four contracts represent one-time revenues to be recorded this quarter. The fourth contract represents a five-year agreement for providing Direct Internet Access and Internet Protocol bandwidth circuits connecting all of the campuses in that school district under a Master Capacity Services Agreement.

According to Dr. H. Dean Cubley, CEO of ERF Wireless, "These agreements mark our entry into a new strategic education vertical market, in addition to our other vertical markets that we've been developing for some time now. We are extremely pleased to have secured contractual agreements with these four Independent School Districts operating in Texas Education Service Center Regions VI and XI."

Dr. Cubley went on to note that the company has recently completed the design and engineering of all four networks and plans to complete the construction and go-live of the 2.5GHz EBS licensed portions of these networks by the end of April 2011.

"These contracts and our new strategic education vertical market opportunity have been made possible and are significantly strengthened by our relationship with the Texas Education Broadband Network (TEBN)," commented R. Greg Smith, EVP of ERF Wireless. "We look forward to completing these projects during the current quarter and working closely with TEBN in pursuing additional wireless broadband network opportunities with rural school districts that are in need of cost-effective, high-speed networks to deploy digital applications."

Smith added that the new wireless networks would reduce the school districts' existing data circuit and bandwidth costs, while enhancing a number of digital applications, including high-quality educational video conferencing, future access to electronic books, distance-learning over wireless links and connection of school campuses via wireless links.

Tim Junek, Executive Director of TEBN, commented, "These initial projects announced by ERF Wireless today truly represent a labor of love for me, personally, and the culmination of numerous hours dedicated toward reaching agreements that result in the implementation and go-live of wireless broadband networks as we begin using the 2.5 GHz licenses that were granted to these schools over a decade ago."

Junek added, "This wireless spectrum (referred to as 2.5GHz EBS or 2.5GHz band) is very suitable for fixed, nomadic and mobile broadband communications and Internet access that is now commonly known as 4G or WiMAX networks. As a former long-term Administrator in Texas school districts, I am extremely proud to have had a pivotal role in these school districts using their licensed spectrum in a way that the FCC intended when it began the program almost 40 years ago. The FCC had a vision to use this spectrum for our local colleges, universities, public schools, church schools and other non-profits to efficiently broadcast educational material and other distributed information and distance-learning content. Today, this vision is becoming a reality."
