Eric Lefkofsky -- and His Wife Liz Gift $250,000 to Weill Cornell Medicine

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - November 12, 2015) - Groupon Chairman and Co-founder Eric Lefkofsky and his wife Liz have donated $250,000 to Weill Cornell Medicine for breast cancer research. Under the directorship of Dr. Linda Vahdat, the Breast Cancer Research Program at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City works to deliver the most advanced treatment and comprehensive care for patients suffering from all stages of breast cancer. In particular, Dr. Vahdat's work focuses on strategies to understand and prevent metastases and develop new therapies in treating the existing illness.

Weill Cornell Medicine provides personalized care and treatment with a multidisciplinary approach. Surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and medical and radiation oncologists all work together to bring patients state-of-the-art evaluations and cutting-edge treatments. Taking on a holistic method, the center treats not just the disease itself but cares for the whole person. It offers support for fatigue, anxiety, hormonal symptoms, bone health and other secondary issues related to the disease and its treatment.

The gift was made through The Lefkofsky Family Foundation, a charitable organization established in 2006 with a focus on supporting quality education, human rights, medical research and cultural initiatives.
