Erin O'Toole, a decorated veteran of the Canadian Forces, lawyer and an active volunteer in our community, announced today that he will seek the Conservative Party nomination for Durham.

"At a time when our region is facing economic, social and agricultural challenges, the people of Durham deserve accountable, honest and accessible representation. The tradition of public service was instilled in me from a young age and I am honoured by this opportunity to serve the people of Durham."

Erin was raised in Port Perry and Bowmanville along with his four siblings. After graduating high school, he enrolled at Royal Military College in Kingston as a cadet in 1991. Erin went on to spend 12 years defending our nation in the Canadian Forces, serving with distinction as a Sea King helicopter navigator, reaching the rank of Captain. Following his discharge from the Canadian Forces, Erin enrolled at Dalhousie Law School, graduating in 2003. Since then, Erin has practiced successfully as a lawyer, developing an even greater appreciation for the challenges faced by citizens and businesses alike.

Erin lives in Clarington, with his wife Rebecca and children Mollie and Jack. He is an enthusiastic member of the Rotary Club of Courtice, an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 178 and serves as a member of the board of directors of Veridian Connections. Erin has been an active organizer and supporter of several charitable causes - most notably as a co-founder and director of the True Patriot Love Foundation. Since 2009, True Patriot Love has raised over $10 million for programs supporting veterans and their families.

The people of Uxbridge, Scugog and Clarington deserve the kind of honest and informed representation that Erin O'Toole will bring to Durham.
