Escape from Montee Saint-Francois Institution


LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 17, 2013) - On June 16, 2013, at approximately 10:45 p.m., during a headcount, personnel at Montée Saint-François Institution, a minimum security federal institution located in Laval, discovered that inmate Dave Bernatchez had escaped.

Dave Bernatchez, 52 years old, is described as 175 cm in height (5' 9"), his weight is 84 kg (186 lb). He has brown eyes, brown hair, wears glasses and has several tattoos including the words "eat shit" on his cheek, a bull dog on the left side of his neck, an eagle's head on the right side of his neck and a ram on his forehead. He is serving an indeterminate sentence since July 4, 1979 for second degree murder, robbery, arson, disguise with intent, break and enter, possession of a prohibited weapon and use of a firearm while committing.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dave Bernatchez is asked to contact police.

CSC and Montée Saint-François Institution will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working with the Sûreté du Québec and Laval Police to locate this offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all available information to assist in the inmate's apprehension.
