Escape from Pe Sakastew Centre

On August 13, 2016, at about 8:45 p.m., Pê Sâkâstêw Centre, a minimum security federal institution, was notified that Darrell Moosomin escaped during an escorted temporary absence in Mâskwâcîs, Alberta.

The police have been notified and the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will continue to work with them to locate the offender as quickly as possible. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Darrell Moosomin is asked to contact the police.

Darrell Moosomin is 54 years old, measures 175 cm (5'9") in height and weighs 98 kg (217 lbs). He has a medium complexion, brown eyes and black hair. He has a scar on his neck and tattoos on his right hand and upper back. He is currently serving an indeterminate sentence of for Sexual Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Disqualified and Obstruct Police/Peace Officer. He has also served sentences for Escape Lawful Custody, Assault, Break, Enter and Commit and Common Assault.

CSC will investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and is working with police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all information available to help arrest the inmate.
