ETFO Awards Peel Teacher

ETFO Newsletter Editor's Award for Peel Teacher Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Education Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 16, 2005) -
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) today presented Kurt Uriarte, first vice-president of the Peel Teacher Local, with the Newsletter Editor's Award (multi-sheet publication) at its Annual Meeting in Toronto.

The award recognizes the outstanding work done by editors of local ETFO newsletters. The criteria for the award include the content, quality, and general overall appearance of the newsletter. Uriarte received the multi-sheet category award for the quarterly publication, Peel Passages.

"Peel Passages is positive and uplifting, celebrating the hard work, dedication, and achievements of teachers. It covers a variety of issues that are of interest to the members such as curriculum issues, testing, funding information, negotiations, and social justice issues. The publication contains detailed information about the work of the local in an effort to ensure that the membership is aware of the various committees and the work that they undertake," ETFO President Emily Noble said.

"This valuable communication device ensures that all members of the local are well informed of the latest developments within education," Noble said.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 65,000 elementary public school teachers and education workers across Ontario and is the largest teacher union in Canada outside of Quebec.
