EthicsCentre CA-Media Advisory: The Role of Journalism in Ethics and Accountability

Why Asking the Question is So Important

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2009) - Gemini award winning broadcaster Anna Maria Tremonti will address the Ethics Centre on Wednesday, May 20, to speak about the role of the media in tough times. Tremonti advocates that when times are difficult, journalists have a responsibility to ask the tough questions - and to ask them of everyone, including those with power and influence.

Journalists often risk criticism when asking questions directly related to ethics and accountability. But to those who maintain that it is unethical or wrong to ask, Tremonti counters that it is unethical NOT to ask.
