ETS and Athletic IQ Announce Plans to Develop Assessments That Measure the Teamwork and Leadership Potential of Student-Athletes

PRINCETON, NJ--(Marketwire - November 29, 2007) - Educational Testing Service's Interactive Learning Division and Athletic IQ (AIQ) announced today an agreement to work together to build a comprehensive set of assessments that will help student-athletes, their parents, athletic directors, and coaches evaluate the athletic potential of student-athletes.

Under the agreement, the two industry leaders will work together to create assessments that measure teamwork, leadership, and other non-cognitive qualities. AIQ currently offers assessments of student-athletes' physical ability and potential, measuring athletic traits such as speed, strength, body composition, flexibility, agility, vertical leap and hand/eye coordination.

"ETS has been researching and developing assessments that measure students' non-cognitive traits -- like teamwork, leadership and motivation -- for about a decade," says Charles Cascio, Vice President of ETS's Interactive Learning Division. "The prospect of adding a research-based personal skills assessment to Athletic IQ's physical assessment is very exciting. Together, these snapshots can build a more comprehensive picture of who the athletes are and engage them in ways that have the potential to make them more productive students."

ETS will also perform validity studies for the Athletic IQ assessments and design an additional assessment that opens a personal skills profile of the student-athlete.

"Athletic IQ provides reliable and comprehensive information about student-athletes to the student-athletes, their parents, athletic directors and coaches," says Bruce McKinnon, CEO of Athletic IQ. "Our collaboration with ETS to validate our physical assessments helps strengthen the AIQ brand. In addition, the non-cognitive assessments will add a whole new dimension to how a student-athlete is evaluated."

ETS and AIQ anticipate launching the new assessments in the spring of 2008.
