ETS Partners with Educere to Market ETS's Criterion(SM) Online Writing Service

PRINCETON, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2006 -- ETS announced today that Educere will market and sell ETS's Criterion(SM) Online Writing Evaluation to schools and districts that want to help students improve their writing skills. The Criterion service is an online writing practice tool that automatically scores student essays and provides instant diagnostic feedback.

"ETS's relationship with Educere, a respected provider of virtual education services to K-12 schools, provides us with a larger audience for ETS's Criterion service," says Siobhan Leahy, Criterion Product Manager for ETS's Elementary & Secondary Education Division. "Together, we can reach more schools and teachers with a writing practice tool that helps students become clear and effective writers."

The Criterion service, part of ETS's System 5™ suite of K-12 products and services, helps instructors more quickly evaluate student writing skills by instantly scoring essays that students submit and providing annotated diagnostic feedback about the use of grammar, usage, mechanics, style, and organization and development. Teacher involvement and oversight are essential; teachers set the parameters for each assignment and can add their own comments to student essays by using pop-up notes or by posting them on a private message board.

"Principals and teachers know that good writing is a critical life skill, but scoring students' writing samples is extremely time consuming," says James Daily, Educere president. "Educere is proud to provide educators across the country access to a convenient online tool that gives students continuous writing practice and teachers the information they need to make informed instructional changes."

This move expands ETS's existing relationship with Educere, which already markets and sells ETS's Pathwise® Online professional development courses.
