ETwater Earns EPA WaterSense® Certification for Entire Line of High Efficiency, Water-Saving Products

Look for the WaterSense® Label on All ETwater® Products Including SmartBox™ Controllers, HermitCrab® and SmartWorks™ Panels

NOVATO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 18, 2013) -  ETwater, the leader in smart irrigation control and water management solutions, today announced that it has earned the esteemed WaterSense® Certification through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) WaterSense program for all of the ETwater irrigation control products, including all models of SmartBox HermitCrab® and SmartWorks, available now through a nationwide network of distributors.

Products that earn the WaterSense label must meet or exceed the EPA's rigorous certification process through an independent testing agency, demonstrating they manage the use of water more efficiently while performing as well as or better than conventional models that use more water. The ETwater full line of models, including the SmartBox, SmartWorks, and HermitCrab families, have earned the EPA WaterSense certification, and will now display the WaterSense label.

The goal of the WaterSense program is to decrease water use by promoting high-efficiency products and simple water-saving practices. According to the EPA, non-agricultural outdoor water use in the United States accounts for more than 7 billion gallons of water daily, mainly for landscape irrigation, and it is estimated that as much as half of this water is wasted. To give property owners and landscapers the tools to solve this problem, ETwater has spent more than a decade developing an innovative water management system that combines weather-based smart irrigation controllers with a proprietary, web-based management program. This fully-integrated system consistently achieves 20-50% water reduction in residential and commercial landscape irrigation settings versus conventional products.

"The WaterSense label helps buyers identify high-performing, water-efficient products," said Sheila Frace, director of the EPA Office of Water's Municipal Support Division. "By purchasing WaterSense labeled products, consumers and businesses can help protect the water supply and their wallets."

"The WaterSense label is a symbol we will proudly display on our products to show our commitment to providing innovative solutions in water efficiency and conservation now and for future generations," said Pat McIntyre, CEO of ETwater. "Demonstrating that conservation can also be good economics is at the heart of our business model, because it helps the conversion rate to water-saving devices for businesses who may want to be environmentally responsible, but who also need to answer to a financial bottom line. Collectively, we can make a huge difference, addressing our nation's water crisis with ground-breaking products and services such as those specified through this admirable EPA program."

Further demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship, ETwater was recently honored with an award for Environmental Innovation at the Acterra Business Environmental Awards Ceremony in California's Silicon Valley, on May 30, 2013. To view a 4-minute video, click here.
