Euromonitor International Signs the UN Global Compact

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - May 28, 2012) - Euromonitor International today announced that it signed on to the United Nations Global Compact, a strategic policy initiative designed for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles. The global market research company is committed to contributing to society in a meaningful and sustainable way and by participating in the UN Global Compact Euromonitor is able to share good practices and learning to help ensure worldwide business operations advance in ways that benefit societies everywhere.

"By becoming a signatory of the voluntary UN Global Compact, Euromonitor International agrees to report annually on the progression of our business operations in line with the ten principles outlined by the Compact," added Senior.

Euromonitor International joins over 8,700 companies and other stakeholders from more than 130 countries in supporting the Compact. The United Nations "Global Compact" promotes the following ten principles:

Human rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, and;
Principle 2: Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: The elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor;
Principle 5: The effective abolition of child labor, and;
Principle 6: The elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility, and;
Principle 9: Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
