Europe's Power Sector Still Going Green, a "Navigating the Currents of Change" Webcast on, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - February 23, 2011) -  Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The renewable power revolution in Europe is alive and well, according to Nicola Lynch, managing director of IIR Europe. Industrial Info Resources is tracking about $292 billion in renewable energy projects in Europe, and renewable energy accounted for about 62% of all electric generating capacity that was completed on the Continent during 2010, she said in an exclusive "Navigating the Currents of Change" interview. "About 27.5 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity was installed in Europe last year, so for renewable to capture 62% of that goes to show how big and active the renewable sector is right now."

The green power revolution is expected to last for another decade, she continued: Through 2020, renewable energy will account for about two-thirds of all new generating capacity coming online. "Going forward, the leading renewable power sectors will be windfarms, followed by hydropower, solar, and biomass. Renewable power generation is very active in European countries."

Lynch and members of the IIR Europe team will be exhibiting at the upcoming Power-Gen Europe trade show, June 7-9, in Milan, Italy. IIR will be displaying at Booth 4C20. Click here to access this and other "Navigating the Currents of Change" webcasts.
