Evan Siddall Appointed as President and CEO of CMHC


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 20, 2013) - The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development, Minister for Multiculturalism and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), today announced the appointment of Evan Siddall as President and Chief Executive Officer of CMHC for a 5-year term effective January 1, 2014.

"Mr. Siddall brings to the position extensive leadership and senior management experience," said Minister Kenney. "His proven financial and capital markets expertise will be of tremendous value to CMHC."

Mr. Siddall was most recently Special Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Canada where he acted as Senior Representative, Toronto Regional Office (Financial Markets). While at the Bank, he led projects designed to promote continuous financial markets and the future stability of the Canadian financial system. Mr. Siddall was also a member of the Bank's Monetary Policy Review Committee and its Financial Stability Review Committee.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Mr. Siddall received an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in 1990, and a B.A. in Management Economics from the University of Guelph in 1987. Over the course of his career, Mr. Siddall has held a variety of positions in both investment banking and general management, including at BMO Nesbitt Burns, Goldman Sachs & Co., Lazard Frères & Co. LLC and Fort Reliance Co. / Irving Oil Ltd. He has also served as Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of Guelph, on the boards of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and the Canadian Stage Company, and on the Council of Chairs of Ontario Universities.

Minister Kenney also thanked Douglas Stewart, for his contributions as Interim President of CMHC.
