Evelyn Farha Calls on All Quebecers to Get Involved

Less than a week left in the CA MARCHE 2011 campaign!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 28, 2011) - The Farha Foundation, Quebec's leading HIV/AIDS fundraising organization is calling on all Quebecers to help make a difference! With only four days remaining until December 1, World AIDS Day, which also marks the end of the ÇA MARCHE 2011 campaign, the Foundation is making one last call for help.

"It's been almost 20 years since the Foundation began and there is still no cure for AIDS. The only way to fight it is by coming together as a community," says Evelyn Farha, Honourary President of the Farha Foundation. "This is why it's important to have campaigns such as ÇA MARCHE, which raises money to help those with the disease, and create awareness that AIDS is preventable."

On September 18, 2011, approximately 4,500 people came together and took to the streets of Montreal for ÇA MARCHE, Quebec's largest walk for the fight against AIDS. To date, the campaign has raised 85% of the Foundation's goal or almost $335,000.

The Foundation is calling on the community whether they are directly or indirectly affected by the disease to band together. AIDS is still present in every community and there is at least 20,000 individuals in the province of Quebec who are HIV positive, which compares to almost the same amount of people at a sold out game at the Bell Centre!

In 1993, Mrs. Farha's son, Ron, passed away from AIDS at age 36 with his whole life ahead of him. Through his experience with the disease, he realized that there was an absence of medical, financial and emotional support for those living with HIV/AIDS. A year before his death, he decided to create the Foundation, which to this day continues his legacy and commitment to the cause.

Mrs. Farha and the Farha Foundation wants everyone to show solidarity for the men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS by giving to the campaign. Everyone's contribution will go to one of the many organizations supported by the Farha Foundation that aim to educate the public and improve the lives of those with the disease.

About ÇA MARCHE

ÇA MARCHE (www.camarche.ca), one of the first Farha Foundation's event to emerge in 1993, is an annual walkathon of 7 kilometres, gathering thousands of persons aiming at raising funds and sensitizing the population to the HIV/AIDS cause.

To maximize awareness of the event, the Farha Foundation asks you to spread the word to as many people as possible. In doing so, you will contribute directly to helping those living with HIV/AIDS, a disease that currently infects as many as two people a day in Quebec. Bring your friends and family to inspire our community to support the cause. Sign up now at www.camarche.ca.
