Every Kid Deserves This Giving Tuesday

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - December 01, 2015) - Today is Giving Tuesday, a day of worldwide giving that's been recognized through social media for four years now between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It's a day where businesses, nonprofits, families and individuals come together online to celebrate the power of community philanthropy. More than 30,000 partners in about 68 countries will help kickoff the 2015 charitable season today. Is your business one of them? Will you become one of them?

Last year, Giving Tuesday spawned $45.7 million in online donations, an almost 240 percent increase from 2012 when the event first launched, driven solely by the power of social media. It's fascinating to me that what seemed like such a simple Internet campaign has been able to catapult real change in communities and employee engagement due to greater donations, volunteer hours and activities that improve lives.

You may be new to this event (perhaps this blog post is your introduction) and are thinking of giving, or maybe you've participated in past years as an employee or individual. Whatever your case is, we all have a cause or charity we connect with, whether it's volunteering at a food bank, supporting natural disaster victims or helping cancer patients. I hope you continue to give to those causes today and all year round. They need your help. This is what Giving Tuesday is all about.

But there is another particular group that I'd also like to point your attention to today: children in need. Every child deserves to grow up healthy, safe and loved. Unfortunately, many of them do not. From children faced with life-threatening diseases to young people living on the streets, our society's most vulnerable population needs help every day. This Giving Tuesday, I ask you to join forces with Community Health Charities to ensure that all children achieve good health and receive the best possible care in a safe, nurturing environment. We understand that every child has different needs. Through our network of trusted health charities, we can help kids experience.
