Every Watt Matters Urges Ongoing U.S. Leadership in Energy Efficiency

Competition From Other Nations Rises as Others Step in to Promote Green Industries

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - May 19, 2010) - Nations around the world are doing their part to promote energy efficiency within their borders, a move that could put U.S. efforts at risk if America veers off track in its quest to become a global leader in emerging green industries.

Every Watt Matters, a leader in home energy efficiency retrofits, encourages the nation to stay the course in promoting programs and industries that support resource conservation and the use of renewable energy at home.

In Australia this week, new legislation was introduced to enhance its renewable energy target. European nations continue to work together to promote innovation and best practices in order to optimize the continent's competitive leadership in green technology.

Even China, which has been criticized in the past for poor efficiency and a high carbon footprint, announced this week that it is cracking down on energy waste with a goal to reduce fossil fuel consumption by 20 percent by the end of this year.

"One of the major forces behind these efforts is to create jobs and stimulate the economies of these countries," said George Blackstone, President of Every Watt Matters. "For the U.S. to maintain a competitive edge in these industries, it is essential that the public support existing programs and others scheduled for adoption soon."

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives passed the Home Star Energy Retrofit Bill, (H.R. 5019), landmark legislation that will help homeowners do their part toward promoting our nation's energy independence. Every Watt Matters encourages the Senate to adopt the effort, which will establish $6.6 billion in rebates and tax credits to homeowners wanting to make their homes more energy efficient through air-sealing and insulation measures, duct sealing or replacement, replacement heating and cooling systems, water heaters, windows, doors and other measures.

Every Watt Matters is a leading Building Performance Institute-certified Building Performance Contractor that coordinates and oversees the entire process of a home retrofit project. It offers a unique business model that integrates schools, communities and local governments in a collaborative approach to meeting the nation's energy efficiency goals.
