Texas was one of the first deregulation states for opening the prepaid electricity market. Currently, First Choice Power has 1.3 million meters installed with over 6 million anticipated for installation by 2014. Public Service Enterprise Group reported over $3.2 million in revenues for their prepaid electric and gas services in New Jersey, a state with a much smaller population than Texas. Currently, pre-paid energy services are expanding by 60% or more across the globe with implementation in over 40 countries and over 10 million prepaid meters in operation worldwide with 3.9 million meters in full operation in North America.
