Evident Software Announces Evident ClearStone 4.5, a Comprehensive Application Performance Management Solution for NoSQL and Java Applications

New Release Extends the ClearStone Platform to Support Cassandra and Memcached

ASBURY PARK, NJ--(Marketwire - October 7, 2010) -  Evident Software, the leading provider of Application Performance Management (APM) for NoSQL, data caching and Java applications, today announced the availability of Evident ClearStone® 4.5, the company's production-class solution for monitoring and managing all data tiers of enterprise applications. ClearStone provides real time collection, correlation, management and visualization of enterprise and Web-based applications, enabling developers and operations personnel to monitor, manage, and optimize the performance of business-critical and Internet-scale applications from a 'single pane of glass.'

ClearStone 4.5 extends the ClearStone platform to cover Apache Cassandra, an open source distributed database, and Memcached, an open source data management architecture. Cassandra and Memcached have become trusted technologies for developers of "Internet-scale" applications who need a fast, efficient solution for managing vast amounts of data. Cassandra, for example, was originally developed by Facebook as a way of managing data for millions of users. Because these data management solutions do not rely on traditional SQL databases, they are known as "NoSQL" technologies.

"NoSQL architectures such as Memcached and Cassandra enable developers and operations engineers to deploy and manage Internet-scale data volumes, but they create challenges for monitoring and troubleshooting applications," said Scott Barnett, CEO of Evident Software. "Traditional application monitoring tools focus on databases or JMX data collection. They're blind to what's happening in the data tiers managed by NoSQL and can't correlate events and metrics from that tier to the rest of their application stack. ClearStone 4.5 addresses this problem by extending its proven, real-time data collection and analysis capabilities to NoSQL data caches. For the first time, developers and operations staff can see the entire application."

In addition to introducing Management Packs for Memcached and Cassandra, ClearStone 4.5 also adds new visualization capabilities to ClearStone's Real-time Dashboard and a new collection configuration tool for the ClearStone Admin Console. The collection config tool makes it easier than ever for users to configure data collection from Oracle Coherence clusters, Cassandra clusters, Memcached instances, and other custom Java applications.

Evident Software will present a Web seminar on ClearStone 4.5 features at 2 pm EDT on Thursday, October 21. To register and to see the latest seminar schedule, please visit: http://www.evidentsoftware.com/category/news-events/events/.
