Evolucia Awarded Patent for Award Winning Aimed Optics Technology

Japan Patent No. 5526302 Issued

BRADENTON, FL--(Marketwired - Aug 13, 2014) - Evolucia Inc. (PINKSHEETS: ILED) has been awarded another patent for its Aimed Optics™ LED lighting system, the core of the company's product line and featured implementation that has been recognized in studies and reviews by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). Evolucia's Aimed Optics™ Cobra Head fixtures were also recognized as the Best Product in the 19th International Fair of Lighting Equipment.

Recently published and valid for 20 years, Patent No. 5526302 was awarded to Evolucia by the Japanese Patent Office for a "Light unit with light output pattern synthesized from multiple light sources."

"Our patented Aimed Optics™ technology allows for individual LEDs within a lighting system to be aimed at separate and specific points of a target area (roadway, parking lot, etc.) to achieve complete illumination of that area while utilizing the least amount of energy and components," stated Thomas Seifert, CEO of Evolucia, Inc. "Aimed Optics™ eliminates the requirement for lenses that redirect light, which adds costs and creates inefficiencies in the system. We aim the LEDs exactly where we want the light to go which requires less energy to fully illuminate a target area -- a key point recognized in the patent."

Seifert added, "While our patented aiming system provides clear and distinct advantages over our competitors, the product implementation must also be advanced in order to keep pace with advances in lower cost materials, controls, new LEDs and power supply capabilities. Currently, our Aimed Optics™ products are marketed to customers who are willing to pay a higher cost for a higher performance lighting system; however, we are currently in development of our generation 3 Aimed Optics™ products that we expect will compete on cost with virtually any competitor, and outperform our competitors' products in both illumination and energy savings."

Evolucia's Aimed Optics™ platform was selected for inclusion in an 18-month, independent U.S. Government study that was sponsored by the DOE. The data from this study clearly demonstrates that Evolucia's first generation Aimed Optics™ solution ranked among the highest for energy efficiency and illumination. These independent studies can be reviewed at the below links:

"The more our technology is examined by people who understand LEDs, the more it is demonstrated to be among the most energy efficient systems in existence," Seifert added.
