Evolving Systems Sets Records for Dynamic SIM Allocation(TM) (DSA) New Customer Wins and Activations in 2013

ENGLEWOOD, CO--(Marketwired - Jan 14, 2014) - Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVOL)

  • Over 600 Million DSA Licensed Connections Worldwide as Company Adds Four New DSA Customers for the Year

  • More Than 4 Million DSA-Enabled SIM Cards Activated During Recent Holiday Season

  • New One-Day Record for DSA Activations by a Single Carrier

Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVOL), a leader in activation, enablement and management of services for connected mobile devices, today announced that 2013 was a record-setting year for the Company's Dynamic SIM Allocation™ (DSA) solution. The Company won four new DSA accounts and saw new records established for the activation of DSA-enabled SIM cards, which have changed the way carriers activate cell phones worldwide.

In 2013 Evolving Systems added four new DSA operator customers -- a single year record that raised to 18 the total number of operators who have licensed DSA worldwide. The Company has experienced incremental connection growth across all of its target regions and DSA-licensed operators now account for more than 600 million of the world's total mobile connections. Total connections by region include 80 million in Europe, 130 million in the Middle East/Africa, 110 million in Asia Pacific, 110 million in the Americas, and 190 million in India.

During the two-week, year-end holiday season, the Company's DSA carrier customers activated more than four million DSA-enabled SIM cards -- a new record for the holiday period when carriers offer their seasonal promotions.

In another milestone achievement, an Evolving Systems carrier customer recently activated 247,000 DSA-enabled SIM cards in one day in support of a marketing campaign -- a single-day record for DSA activations by one carrier.

This record-breaking performance underscores the growing pace of DSA adoption by carriers around the world as well as the throughput capabilities of DSA technology to sustain the high-volume traffic of activations during peak periods.

"Evolving Systems has seen accelerating growth of DSA over the last five years. In 2013 alone the Company achieved a 100 percent increase in connections, raising to more than 600 million the total number of connections in DSA-enabled mobile networks worldwide," said Thad Dupper, Chairman and CEO of Evolving Systems. "This growth demonstrates our global market leadership, the steady adoption of our DSA technology as well as the value our solution provides to forward thinking carriers in the growing and competitive mobile landscape."

Evolving Systems' extensive experience implementing its DSA solution with mobile operators worldwide enables operators to achieve significant improvement to their SIM card logistics and supply chain. The solution also provides increased distribution flexibility and considerable cost savings for the operator as well as enhanced subscriber experience and choice of personalization of services for subscribers.

In October of 2013 Evolving Systems was awarded its fourth US patent for DSA. Later in October Evolving Systems acquired Telespree Communications, which holds seven additional patents that have relevance to SIM cards and/or DSA, further strengthening the DSA-related patent portfolio and solidifying the Company's leadership position in the space.
