EWI and Universities Investigate Green House Gas Recovery

AJAX, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 24, 2005) - Environmental Waste International Inc. ("EWI")(TSX VENTURE:EWS) has agreed to support work on a new research project with the University of Ottawa (UofO) and the University of Waterloo (UofW) Civil Engineering Departments. The project will investigate the effects of microwaves on municipal sludge to enhance biogas and green house gas recovery. The project has been awarded a government grant of $326,400 from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) to conduct a three-year study. Project work will be conducted at several locations, including UofO, UofW, the Wastewater Technology Centre in Burlington and at EWI's facility in Ajax. EWI joins Environment Canada and the BIOCAP Canada Foundation as participants in this project.

EWI is pleased to be a part of the project and believes that the results will allow it to continue to expand its product line and target markets. EWI's goal is to offer innovative solutions to many of the environmental issues faced today. EWI continues to work with several motivated groups on designing systems that incorporate its technology to treat other waste streams in a responsible manner.

EWI has designed and built processors for the decontamination of liquid waste from biocontainment facilities, for the sterilization and safe disposal of medical waste and for the pretreatment and sterilization of organic food waste for prolonged storage and disposal.
