EWS Begins Tire Testing Phase of TR900 System

AJAX, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 22, 2011) - Environmental Waste International Inc. (EWS) (TSX VENTURE:EWS) announced that it has successfully completed the calibration and initial operation of all subsystems involved in the TR900 pilot plant system. EWS has now received the final approval and signoff from the Ministry of Environment confirming that all required work prior to operation of the system is complete. EWS, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Ellsin Environmental Ltd, has been approved by the Ontario Tire Stewardship to receive tires during the testing and commissioning phase of the TR900 system. The first shipment of tires is now onsite and the tire testing phase will now begin.

This phase of the system's operation involves all subsystems operating simultaneously to begin breaking down tires. As the tires break down, the off-gas system will recover the oil and then treat and scrub the remaining gas for use as a fuel in the power generation system. The remaining carbon and steel are then separated and collected at the exit portion of the system. EWS anticipates that this phase will have several milestones, all involving ongoing modifications, fine-tuning and programming to bring the system to a satisfactory level of operation. Once the system is operating for prolonged periods, the final work to optimize the process efficiency and maximize the quality of the System byproducts will be undertaken.

EWS has also designed processors for the environmentally safe sterilization and disposal of medical, biological, liquid and food waste and for the recovery of usable byproducts from other organic sources. EWS continues to explore other applications for its technology.
