Exaprotect and Fortinet Announce Strategic Alliance for Advanced Network Security Management of Large-Scale Environments

Market-Leading UTM and Network Management Solutions Combine to Extend Security and Streamline Management of Highly Complex Networks

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - March 25, 2008) - Exaprotect, a leader in network security management, and Fortinet, the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, today announced a strategic alliance to deliver robust security and network management solutions to enterprises, service providers and government agencies with highly complex network environments.

The partnership will enable Exaprotect, Fortinet and their channel partners to provide advanced solutions that help customers to better manage and mitigate security threats and risks, and to protect their network investments, especially in large installations with thousands of geographically dispersed heterogeneous devices.

The patented Exaprotect Solsoft Policy Server will be integrated with Fortinet's flagship FortiGate™ line of security appliances, enabling unified and centralized security policy management in large, multi-vendor network environments. This solution is designed to reduce organizations' operating costs, streamline the implementation and monitoring processes, and automatically provide in-depth audit reports with the critical information necessary to support the most stringent compliance needs. In addition, Exaprotect and Fortinet are conducting extensive interoperability testing to help ensure excellent customer deployment experience.

"As one of Europe's leading mobile phone operators, we are constantly looking to improve and streamline IT management," said Pierre Auguste, chief security officer at SFR. "We already have a successful partnership with both Exaprotect and Fortinet, and this partnership will help us to further enhance efficiency and give us even closer control of our security status."

As part of this partnership, Exaprotect joins Fortinet's Global Alliance Program, which is an ecosystem of network equipment manufacturers, consultancy firms, service providers, global system integrators and other technology firms that complement and extend Fortinet's UTM solutions for protecting customers against external threats and internal breaches. With its global network management market presence, Exaprotect plays a key role in Fortinet's goals for worldwide coverage and expansion.

"With this partnership, Exaprotect and Fortinet are addressing a key requirement for robust security with easy control and manageability in complex, heterogeneous networks," said Anthony James, vice president of products for Fortinet. "Our approach of consolidating critical network security applications and services onto a single, high-performance platform reduces the complexity and cost of securing a network. The Exaprotect Solsoft Policy Server does the same for policy control, making the integration of the two a truly complementary solution. We are making overall security management far easier and quicker for hard-pressed IT teams."

"The interoperability between Exaprotect and Fortinet's unified security solutions gives enterprises greater choice, enabling them to simplify and streamline their entire approach to network security," said Frédéric Saint-Joigny, Exaprotect's vice president of business development. "With Fortinet's best-of-breed solutions and the Exaprotect Solsoft Policy Server's policy and role-based management capabilities, organizations will dramatically improve their operational efficiency, dramatically reduce the response time to threats and meet compliance."

The Exaprotect Solsoft Policy Server provides organizations with a centralized graphical security policy management platform. Using intuitive, drag-and-drop rules and objects, it accelerates responses to network threats and attacks. This innovative server enables IT administrators to design, implement and track security policies, change management and security events on all network devices from a single interface. The flexibility of the solution allows deployments to vary from large-scale to SMB organizations. Security managers, network administrators and IT systems auditors can create reports through the Web-based reporter on different aspects of network security policies, such as access control settings and device change histories.

Fortinet provides ASIC-accelerated security appliances, which are used by enterprises and service providers to enhance and consolidate their security needs while reducing total operating costs. Fortinet solutions were built from the ground up to integrate multiple levels of security protection -- including firewall, antivirus, intrusion prevention, VPN, Web filtering, spyware prevention and anti-spam -- designed to help customers protect against network and content level threats. Delivered via its flagship FortiGate family of appliances, Fortinet provides a flexible and extensible platform of security applications and services that enable customers to deploy and centrally manage the same comprehensive level of protection at remote locations as they have for headquarters and data center environments.

Both Exaprotect and Fortinet have received industry-wide recognition from numerous analysts. Gartner has placed both Exaprotect and Fortinet in their Magic Quadrant in their respective industry reports: Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) report, 2007, and the Enterprise Network Firewall Magic Quadrant, 2H07.
