ATHENS, GREECE--(Marketwire - May 6, 2008) - Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (NYSE: EXM), an owner and operator of dry bulk carriers and a provider of worldwide seaborne transportation services for dry bulk cargoes, announced today that it will release its results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2008 before the opening of the market on Monday, May 19, 2008.

On the same day at 10:00 A.M. EDT, the company's management will host a conference call to discuss the results.
