Executive Alliance Announces Winner of Information Security Executive of the Year Tri-State Award™

CIGNA Corporation's Chief Information Security Officer Honored

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 31, 2005 -- Executive Alliance, creator and provider of premium leadership-recognition forums, announced today that Craig Shumard, Chief Information Security Officer of the CIGNA Corporation, has been named the winner of the prestigious Information Security Executive (ISE) of the Year Tri-State 2005 Award. Mr. Shumard and eighteen other nominees from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut were honored at a gala reception and awards ceremony held on Thursday evening at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square.

Marc Sokol, Chief Security Officer of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, was named the ISE Tri-State People's Choice Award winner. Five ISE Finalists, including Mr. Shumard and Mr. Sokol, were showcased during the evening event. The other finalists are Dr. Edward G. Amoroso, Chief Information Security Officer and Vice President of AT&T's Security Center of Excellence, Dennis Brixius, Vice President, Risk Management and Chief Security Officer for the McGraw-Hill Companies and Frank Cassano, Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer of People's Bank of Connecticut.

The ISE Tri-State Award is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of the information security industry and its leaders. The honor is awarded to a chief security officer or an executive in an equivalent position who has overall responsibility for network and/or Internet security and who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the field of information security in the Tri-State region.

Nominees are culled from all private and public companies, as well as government agencies and academic institutions. They are evaluated and a winner is selected by a distinguished panel comprised of industry experts and practitioners including past ISE nominees and winners. The People's Choice Award recipient is selected by the attendees of the event, who are able to cast votes in advance through an online survey. Staged in a celebratory networking environment, the awards gala is one event of five including an Executive Forum that allows the executive nominees and ISE Award sponsors an opportunity to reach out to one another in a discussion of industry issues.

"It is always gratifying to oversee the process of selecting and honoring these incredibly talented executives," said Marci McCarthy, CEO of Executive Alliance. "Our experience at Tri-State is not unlike the other regional award events that we've inaugurated this year; the bar continues to be raised and we never cease to be amazed by the achievements of the security executives that too often go unrecognized."
