Executive Coach and Self-Promotion Expert Bonnie Marcus Provides Tips and Hosts Call on Overcoming the Fear of Self-Promotion

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - December 1, 2010) - Executive Coach and Self-Promotion Expert Bonnie Marcus, M.Ed., CEC will host a free call for businesswomen across the country on Wednesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. Eastern/ 5 p.m. Pacific, entitled "Using Benefit Language to Sell Your Way to Millions or Hit That Top Rung." Marcus will draw upon her 25 years in management in positions that included being CEO of a Service Master company and Vice President of Sales at Medical Staffing Network and two other national companies, to explain why using benefit language is crucial when communicating your value proposition to potential clients, your boss and others, and how to do it.

Using benefit language requires you to succinctly and effectively discuss your abilities so people will want to work with you or promote you. Marcus, who has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs and corporate clients as a certified business/executive coach, provides three tips to help overcome fears about promoting yourself.

  • "Keep a success journal and reaffirm your value to yourself, recording all of your accomplishments, large and small. Review them weekly and create positive affirmations about your value to recite each day.
  • Self-promotion makes most of us feel awkward and vulnerable. To stop the negative chatter that comes along with these feelings, hit the delete button and review your positive affirmations. As you become more aware of how your negative thoughts sabotage your efforts, you will find it easier to ignore them.
  • Fear of self-promotion often leads people to prepare a speech about themselves so they won't stutter or stammer, but this usually ends up sounding fake. Instead, engage others in conversation and incorporate what you want to say about yourself into the discussion. Writing out the value of your product and service and benefits you provide will help you communicate effectively without sounding rehearsed."

Marcus will provide additional tips on the call to help women excel in their careers and their businesses by using benefit language in all important meetings and presentations.
