EXFO Combines Ethernet and SONET/SDH Testing in Power Blazer Suite

Delivering the industry's most compact and feature-rich multi-service transport test solution

QUEBEC CITY, CANADA--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2007) - EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (TSX:EXF)(NASDAQ:EXFO) announced today the introduction of the FTB-8120NGE and FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer test modules, offering a full suite of SONET/SDH, next-generation SONET/SDH and Ethernet testing capabilities inside the industry's most compact form factor - less than half the size of the closest comparable solution.

These Power Blazer modules offer customers the highest level of integration in the market to meet all their multi-service transport network testing needs. The FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer, supporting testing rates up to 10 Gb/s for both SONET/SDH and Ethernet (including 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN and WAN), is ideally suited for multi-service transport platform (MSTP) and reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) network deployments as well as maintenance activities. The FTB-8120NGE Power Blazer, handling SONET/SDH testing rates up to 2.5 Gb/s and Ethernet testing rates up to GigE, is purpose-built for the growing deployments of Ethernet-over TDM and Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH services worldwide.

The scalability and flexibility of the Power Blazer modules translate into a better return on investment for customers. They can reduce their capital expenses and inventory management costs, since the Power Blazer addresses multi-service testing needs with a single module. In addition, these modules offer users the flexibility to tailor their test solution to specific requirements because the Power Blazer is supported by EXFO's FTB-200 Compact Platform and FTB-400 Universal Test System.

Combined with the small, lightweight form factor of the FTB-200 platform, the Power Blazer delivers the industry's most compact multi-service test solution on the market today; it is ideal for field technicians responsible for installing multi-service network element client interfaces and services. When housed inside the multi-slot FTB-400 Universal Test System, the Power Blazer can be combined with other of EXFO's industry-leading fiber characterization modules. This solution is designed for initial field characterization and network element commissioning activities.
